Gweyn detects faint auras of Evocation on one wand and Conjuration on the other. She doesn't spot anything else in the bunk room giving off any auras, including the other possessions of the unconscious wizard.

Visara starts collecting the possessions of Giggles and Hookshanks. Besides the gnome's finely crafted studded leather and rapier, he had a disguise kit, a small key, and 20 gold coins. Giggles had excellent quality armor and heavy flail as well, plus 10 gold coins and larger key that appears to about right for the doors in the fishery.

Gweyn notices right away that the armor on both of those two dead thugs are giving off faint auras of Abjuration. Waking around in the other rooms, she is not seeing any other glows of magical auras.

Earlier, the sisters noted that the teenage pickpockets were armored in leather, carrying knives, and pouches with 2 tanglefoot bags each. Stripping all of those bodies will take more than a few moments. None of those things are magical.

Narissa nods as Visara moves off to begin searching and stripping the dead, "Let me know if you find that key to the doors."

She moves on to another room, the office, and starts searching around. The papers appears to be records for the slurry business that these idiots were using as a cover for their attempt at starting their own thieves' guild. The slates on the table are covered with transaction records, addresses of customers, and other accounting notes.

She tries the small keys on the locked desk drawer, and one of them opens it. Inside is a unique leather bound book. Flipping it open, she cannot make heads or tails of the writing, but it would appear to be a spellbook, probably belonging to the wizard. 29 pages of a 100 are used.

Leaving the office, she hands the book to Gweyn as well, "Another present for you, dear. Learn anything about the wands yet?"

Figuring the magus needs more time to look things over, she moves to the next room. The front entry room doesn't have anything of interest. The desk is empty of interesting items, and nothing is hidden in the small pile of ratty furs and straw is heaped under it. This must have been where the dog was kept during other times of day.

Moving into the upper workfloor area, Narissa checks the desk in there and finds nothing of interest except empty slates. The cabinet is locked and she tries another of the smaller keys. It opens to reveal some pouches containing coins. She opens them up and there are ones with silver and gold, approximately 200 silver and 45 gold.

While she was moving around, Narissa thought she heard something from underneath the floor. She pauses to listen better before moving quietly towards the others to stand on the catwalk and retrieve her ranseur. She says quietly, "I think whoever is down below is awake now. I heard someone moving around below the workroom."

Visara nods at Narissa's announcement that they were no longer alone in the fishery. Drawing her greatsword, the barbarian says quietly, "Well, they must sleep like dead if they didn't wake up to the shouting and fighting going ahead. Perhaps they think we've left." Visara then shows the large key she found off of Mr. Giggles. "Maybe this will open that door down below we saw. We can go out and get to the lower walkway via the moored barge I think"

Gweyn had pondered the magical items, trying to puzzle out their possible uses. It took her some time to study them and suss out their magic, yet she felt she was getting more skilled at doing so. The book would take more time and research, and perhaps would be of more value to another mage than anything she could personally glean from it.

Her ears pricked up as Narissa alerted them to the movement below. Surely the way to get there was through the trap door and along the wooden walkway they had discovered.

She knew her shielding spell would be fading soon. She would recast it right before they reached the area below.

Gweyn followed Narissa out to the catwalk, moving as quietly as possible.

Putting away her shock mace, Narissa takes the key and says softly, "Maybe. Let me see if it works up here first."

After trying it successfully on a few locks of the doors, she locks the bunk room with the unconscious wizard inside. She hangs onto the key in case it will open the door below.

Narissa returns to the catwalk and says quietly, "There was a dingy down there and I can snag it with my weapon to pull it underneath the opening. No need for any fancy flying or risking a drop in the drink."

With a frown of consternation, she peers around at the interior of the fishery one more time and comments softly, "One thing is for sure, we have not found this prick Gaedren Lamm nor the stolen items... Yet."

Visara watches as Narissa takes the key and locks the doors in the upper part of the fishery. Good idea, she thinks to herself, might give us warning if any else comes calling.

After Narissa comes back, Visara nods in agreement with her fellow sister. "I don't fancy a dip this morning. Especially not with the water down there." The redhead puts a look of disgust as she peers down the opening to the water below. "Once you hook the boat, are you going to drop down there first, or want one of us?" As an after thought, "One could hope that is Lamm down there with out loot."

Gweyn nodded in silent agreement.

Then she turned to her sisters, showing them the one wand she had been able to decipher.

“This is a healing wand. I believe I can activate it,” she whispered to them. “We should keep it close. It may come in handy later.”

Having decided on a plan and everyone is ready to go, Narissa moves to the hole in the floor of the level of the fishery. Kneeling down and leaning through, she easily hooks the little boat tied up underneath with her ranseur. The water ripples as she pulls it closer and directly below them.

"I will hold it, go ahead and climb in, darling. We can easily ferry us one at a time to the walkway. I will go last."

The half-dragon easily lowers herself into the boat and can stand with her shoulders still above the level of the floor. She braces herself as the unsteady skiff will capsize otherwise. After Visara crouches down to grasp the gunwales to be more stable, Narissa pushes the boat so she can reach the walkway nearby and climb out.

It only takes a few moments to carefully finish the ferrying of all three women to the walkway underneath the fishery. They are hunched over because the narrow space under the fishery has only about four feet of clearance between the floor of the building above and the languid, foamy river water below. Wooden pilings support the building, and moss and cobwebs hang thick from ropes and rusted chains between them.

The wooden walkway floats on the river surface, flexing and creaking as they move upon its slightly unstable surface. It ends to the west at a wooden door that leads into an understructure below the fishery’s landbound half.

Down on the catwalk below the fishery, Visara wrinkles her nose at the foul smelling water, and then looks back at Narissa. The redhead says quietly, "Since you have the key, you want to move up and check the door? Or pass the key up front?" Visara will moves aside to allow her sister to pass, or try the door herself if it passed up to her.

Unable to stand erect, Narissa carefully maneuvers around her sisters in a crouch. Checking out the door, she determines that it is not trapped, but the key also does not fit this door. However, the door is not locked either.

She whispers, "I can open it. Same order as last time?" She waits for the other two to be ready.

Gweyn was now behind the others. She nodded to Narissa’s suggestion, however. The last time Narissa had gone through the door first, then she had followed, and Visara, who was the fastest, had brought up the rear.

She shifted forms to walk more easily around her broad-shouldered sister, turning into a tawny dog, then shifting back to her hybrid form to crouch under the decking.

In the cramped quarters, there was not much room, but she paused to renew her shielding spell, whispering the words of magic to summon forth the invisible barrier that snapped in place around her.

Drawing her rapier, she nodded at Narissa.

“I am ready, my sisters.”

Visara takes her position in the back as before, and nods again at her readiness. A wicked gleam can be seen in the half-dragon's eyes in a predator like anticipation.

Narissa opens the door and reveals the interior.

The air in this large room is somewhat chilly and stinks of the river, no doubt thanks to a huge opening in the floor that drops away to the river shore five feet below. Several pilings emerge from the waters to support the roof above, with mossy ropes slung between them. In two places, rusty manacles hang from the ropes over the water. Two five-foot-wide walkways cross the hole’s edge to the other side of the chamber, where a collection of old cabinets, lockboxes, and piles of clutter are strewn about. Chipped porcelain plates, a cracked goblet, badly rusted silverware, an old wooden shield with a crossbow bolt embedded in it, the odd dinged helm, and other “treasures” litter the floor of this entire chamber. Three tables, their tops heaped with additional clutter, stand amid this mess, while just west of that a wooden door seems to provide access to a walled-off section.

There is a man standing just across the hole. But the looks of him, he matches the description of Gaedren Lamm.
Image
Lamm is a jaundiced and stooped man, his eyes yellowed and skin speckled from age. He is balding but has a way about him. He is wearing studded leather armor and has a rapier at his belt. He is holding a hand crossbow pointed at the door. "You?! Bah, you are stupid cunts to dare and come here! Gobblegut! Attack them!"

Narissa finds that the occupants are clearly expecting the sisters' arrival. Lamm's crossbow thwacks and bolt thunks into her chest, managing to tickle a vital spot for such a small dart. He steps away to his left.

On looking down, there is a large alligator sticking its head up looking at her.

Narissa grunts at the surprise attack, the little shaft sinking deep.

Still, she smiles at him and coos, "Ooh, lover. That felt good. I have been waiting to meet you. I bet you like it rough."

With the obstructions in the room, she cannot manage to easily fly over the pit, so Narissa moves down the walkway and slashes at the man with her ranseur. The bladed point cuts into his arm.

"Lovely shade of red, lover."
